I’ve been around quite a lot in the last weeks, leaving my ERASMUS town Tampere to meet the whole bunch of my family and as much friends as I could back in Germany. Seeing Riga, Berlin, Michendorf, Oberhof, Hamburg, Wilhelmshaven and Bremen means a lot of travelling and therefore spare time. Fortunately my iPod has been a reliable companion. So I decided to share some of the music which recently pleased my ear and complemented my thoughts.

sunrise at the finish coast seen on my way to berlin via riga.

Bareto – El Aguajal: One of the left-overs of my South America trip, this band from Miraflores in Lima, Peru made my freezing way to the Tampere Airport a lot more joyful. I first heard of this band in a bus to Huaraz, actually buying their album back in Lima. A real insider tip, or a must for everyone travelling Peru!

Everclear – Everything To Everyone: No insider anymore, being Nr.1 Alternative US in 1997. Still, back on my list. Great Intro!

Shantel – Being Authentic: ’til now Balkanbeats parties in Berlin are the place to be for sweaty dance-the-night-through action. Never expected to fall in love with trumpets and accordions… Shantel just released his new album Planet Paprika with this song on it. Fortunately I skipped the Berlin concert to massacre some chocolate Santas.

Martin Sexton – Diner: Listen and feel good!

The Kooks – California

Quantic & Nickodemus – Mi Swing Es Tropical: Everytime I listen to that song it starts to unveil my deep-down passion for dancing to Latin Music.

Dave Matthews Band – Say Goodbye: A great performed track to relax and gain fresh energy. Just lay back and close your eyes. Here in an unbelievable 10min live version.

Dinah Washington – What a difference a day makes: To Waleria. In Love.

Friska Viljor – Arpeggio: Enjoyed Friska’s concert in Festsaal Kreuzberg a year ago, but it took me a lot of time to really listen to their two albums. This one is my favourite tune until now.

John Butler Trio – Zebra: The JBT is my personal get-in-good-mood band. Zebra is there first single and for two years permanent resident on my iTunes TOP25. On my iPod the band saw a lot of the world recently, but still I couldn’t spot how well known this band actually is to others…
